I love pizza and with a lot of web based work and some projects for the evening it was nice to have a quick dinner !  This was the last of our homemade tomato sauce so no more tomatoes until Olivia's Garden starts selling their Cherry tomatoes that they predict will be ripening up in the middle of April !

Stay tuned for a first hand look into the wonderful operation they have going on at Olivia's up in New Gloucester, if all goes as planned Ill be touring the greenhouses sometime next week !

In order to fully experience game 7 of the NBA Finals I decided pizza and beer would fit the bill.  Although it was a great game we were very upset that the C's couldn't finish off the game the same way they played for the first three quarters... the good news is that i can finally start catching up on some sleep this week.  Staying up till 12-12:30 and waking up at 4:45am every morning has certainly taken its toll on my brain and my body !

Pesto Pizza

A nice warm meal with a fresh salad on the side.  Olivia's Garden supplied the cukes that are in my opinion the best he's had yet.  Thicker skin and crisp flesh mmmmm mixed with some salad greens from Fishbowl Farm and microgreens from Thirty Acres.  I think I even finely chopped some of their sauerkraut into the dressing too.  The pizza was a homemade pesto I made using sunflower oil olivias basil and some romano cheese from echo ridge.  On top of a Mother Oven Pita split in two.  Then that lovely Swallowtail Farm Mozzarella to top it off !  Damn

I should note another recent highlight on the homestead front is that Cassi has taken on the task of making all our cleaning supplies using natural substances such as vinegar and baking soda.  Its seems to be working very nicely and maybe she will share some of her wisdom with us in the near future !

A nice meal to get us back in the swing of things... it also finished off the last of our Veramato's from Longwind Farms in VT.  Shoulda bought a whole flat... looking forward to Olivia's Garden coming with their Spring Crop.

Yes I did stray slightly from the 100% Maine based beverages but hey it's Superbowl Sunday and technically I said I was "eating" a Maine based diet... so yes I did head down to Downeast Beverages in the old port and picked up a few beers to enjoy while watching the Saints make Peyton Manning look like the fool Ive always known him to be !  Congrats to the Saints now back to the painting studio !

 Yes today was our traditional Pizza & Beer Sunday or in other words "Football Sunday", so I woke up and started the dough in the morning.  The pizza came out pretty good but I definitely need to work on the rising powers of my dough... not sure if it was the measurements, or the flour, that made it a bit flatter than Id hoped but lets just say it wasn't the worst thing I had to deal with today to say the least....

No more Patriots this season !  Till next year....
