the Midcoast Honeymoon !

After much deliberation we decided to keep supporting our local economy and head up to midcoast Maine.  After a little research and talking to some of our farmer friends we came across an amazing solar powered cabin on the top of Frye Mountain just outside of Belfast.  It turned out to be even nicer than we thought it would be, including the very special amenity of a fully functional kitchen as well as a turntable for our music addiction !

Being owned by farmers... it had many special features including a small vegetable & herb garden as well as two wonderful porches; one screened and one open to fully enjoy the vast landscape of the nearby Camden Hills.

Each morning we could enjoy a little home cooked local breakfast and watch the fog lift from the nearby valleys....

a birds eye view from the loft... the cabin is perfectly laid out with a summer bedroom downstairs that stays cool on the hottest of days and a winter loft to hold the rising heat in the cold days of winter...

I wish this was our dining area at home... what a view !

We brought a good little stock of wedding gifts, as well as some of our garden delights.  We also had a chance to stop in at a few local shops and get some midcoast goodies for our snacking pleasure...

More on these in the next post... as well as a few restaurant reviews of some midcoast gems !

We did it !

the Happily Married Couple....

What an amazing day....
Weekend for that matter.  An amazing time spent with family and close friends.  The sunshine broke through the lingering clouds in perfect time for Cassi to walk the aisle to the acoustic styles of "Here Comes the Sun".  Clay Hill Farm provided a perfect setting to enjoy our special day ! Everything was perfect from beginning to end and we took it as a wonderful omen to start our journey together as husband and wife.

More to come in the very near future... learn about our amazing honeymoon in midcoast Maine which will include quick reviews on such restaurants as the old & new Miyake, Suzuki, Three Tides, Sheperd's Pie, Primo, Hugo's as well as our experiences visiting some local producers such as Marshal Wharf, Sweetgrass Winery & Distillery, Savage Oaks Vineyard, Glidden Point Oyster Farm as well as an extensive review of Raven's Hill Orchard.

Keep those roots local.... LOCALROOTZ !
